Textile & Dyeing Wastewater Treatment
Textile wastewater can remain strongly coloured even after biological treatment. Ozone oxidation is considered for selected dyes and finishing chemicals within an integrated dyehouse effluent process.
Discuss Your ApplicationThe Treatment Challenge
Dye recipes, washing cycles and finishing agents create variable pH, salinity and organic loading. Colour is a visible concern, but apparently colourless effluent can still contain dissolved organics or harmful transformation products.
How Ozone Helps
Ozone can attack colour-forming structures in susceptible dye molecules. This may reduce colour or change biodegradability; colour removal alone does not establish COD removal, detoxification or suitability for reuse.
Process engineering
Technical Treatment Approach
Representative dyehouse samples guide feed-gas preparation and ozone-reactor selection. Gas injection, mixing and contact are matched to the equalised stream. Colour, pH, organic-load testing and residual monitoring are considered together, with off-gas capture and destruction.
Key Benefits
- Can address residual colour from susceptible dyes
- May assist downstream biological polishing
- Supports evaluation of effluent for a defined reuse route
System Integration
Equalisation and solids removal help manage batch variability. Biological treatment and adsorption may be used before or after ozonation, while salinity reduction for reuse generally requires a separate separation process.
Engineering & Automation
PLC-controlled operating modes can follow batch identity and measured flow. HMI records, ozone monitoring, cooling interlocks and alarm history support troubleshooting; remote supervision options may help compare changing production conditions.
Available depending on system configuration and project requirements.
Important Design Considerations
Determine dose, contact time, transfer efficiency and treatment performance using actual dye mixtures, water quality, flow and contaminant load. Check oxidation by-products and residual toxicity against treatment goals rather than relying only on a colour reading.
