Wastewater / STP Odour Control
Odours from wastewater facilities are best managed close to their source. Captured air from selected STP processes may be assessed for ozone treatment as part of a coordinated ventilation and gas-treatment strategy.
Discuss Your ApplicationThe Treatment Challenge
Wet wells, inlet works and sludge areas can release changing mixtures of sulphur compounds and other gases. High humidity, corrosion and uneven extraction complicate treatment, while uncontrolled leaks bypass any installed odour-control stage.
How Ozone Helps
Ozone may oxidise selected wastewater odour compounds in a contained reactor. It is not equally effective against every gas, and treating odour does not replace monitoring and controls for hazardous atmospheres around wastewater assets.
Process engineering
Technical Treatment Approach
Covered-source extraction is measured before selecting prepared feed gas and an ozone generator. Gas injection, mixing and residence are evaluated in suitable contact equipment. Monitor representative inlet/outlet conditions and provide treatment for residual ozone and relevant oxidation products.
Key Benefits
- Can address selected odours in captured process air
- Works within a source-containment strategy
- May complement existing gas-treatment stages
System Integration
Ventilation, chemical scrubbing, biofilters or activated carbon may be used according to the gas mixture. Corrosion-resistant ducting and condensate handling require attention; occupational atmosphere protection remains a separate operational responsibility.
Engineering & Automation
PLC options can coordinate extraction fans, ozone output and reactor permissives. HMI trends, gas sensors, pressure alarms and shutdown interlocks support supervision, with remote status reporting for unattended treatment equipment.
Available depending on system configuration and project requirements.
Important Design Considerations
Set ozone dose, contact time, mixing efficiency and performance criteria from actual captured-air quality, flow and contaminant load. Treatment goals must account for humidity, peak releases, residual ozone and by-products rather than odour observations alone.
